Car hire at Zadar Airport
Zadar Airport (airport code: ZAD) is only 5 miles from central Zadar. There are a couple of major roads adjacent to the airport, which makes getting to and from the airport smooth and easy.
Where to go around Zadar
Zadar has a fantastic location on the Croatian coast. From here you can easily get around to several cosy villages and historic towns. Below we’ve listed a few of our favourite places to explore in the area.
Pag
The beautiful Adriatic island of Pag is only about 30 miles north of Zadar and is reachable by car. Here you’ll find many cosy villages and beautiful landscape. The small village Lun on the northern tip has many nice restaurants. Moreover, Pag town (which shares the name of the island) also has a lot of exciting things to see.
Gospic
An hour’s drive north of Zadar is the picturesque town of Gospic. Gospic is located in a mountainous area, and is surrounded by stunning scenery. The city has many impressive historic buildings worth visiting. Gospic is also the birthplace of the famous inventor Nikola Tesla.
Motovun
If you fancy a longer drive through the amazing Croatian costal landscape, a trip to Motovun is a must. This medieval town, which is about 215 miles from Zadar, is situated on a mountaintop. There many beautiful and interesting historic buildings in the city, and you get gorgeous views of the surrounding landscape. Two of the most famous sights in Motovun are the Church of St Steven and the Motovun forest, where you’ll also find famous wineries.
