Our car hire offices in Melbourne

Melbourne is on the southern coast of Australia, towards Tasmania. Because of this, the city is the perfect starting point for many excursions. There are several car rental offices in the city.

  • Melbourne Central Railway Station: There are three offices within walking distance from Melbourne Central Railway Station. One of them is on La Trobe Street, in direct connection to the station. The other two are a stone’s throw away from the station on Franklin Street, right by the RMIT University.
  • Southern Cross Railway Station: The other major train station in Melbourne is Southern Cross, where you will find two more car rental offices. Both of them are on Spencer Street and are very easy to find. Spencer Street is one of the major roads going through the city, and getting from Southern Cross to other parts of Melbourne and to its surrounding areas is very convenient.
  • Central Melbourne: Yet another car rental office is right in the heart of Melbourne on Little Collins Street. This office is very central and is located close to the shopping district.
  • Southern Melbourne: There are plenty of good car hire possibilities in the southern parts of Melbourne, which are referred to as Southbank or South Melbourne. Getting out of Melbourne from this part of town is very easy as the motorway M1 is very close to all the offices here. Speaking of the offices, these are located on Clarendon Street, Moray Street and Montague Street.

Car hire at Melbourne airport

Melbourne airport (airtport code: MEL) is the second busiest airport in Australia. It is located 23 kilometres (14 miles) from central Melbourne and services both international and domestic flights. The airport is also ranked as one of the best airports in the world.

At Melbourne airport, six of the major car hire companies are represented. Hiring your car and picking it up directly at the airport is very convenient. You’ll find the car hire offices on the ground floor in all terminals, and also in the T3 car park. They are well sign posted and easy to find.

What to do around Melbourne

Melbourne is the most populous city in the state of Victoria and the second most populous city in the country. There are many delightful destinations in the city’s vicinity that are perfect when you have a rental car. Below we’ll mention some of our favourite places.

Mount Buller
Mount Buller is located in the Victorian Alp region, an approximate three hour drive east of Melbourne. The city is a well-known ski resort and during the summer the area is also popular for its beautiful walking trails with views of the mountainous landscape. Mountain biking is also available!

Tidal River
If you drive about 135 miles south of Melbourne you’ll reach Tidal River, which is the name of both the river and the area built by the river. This area was originally a military base, but after World War II it was turned into a camping site. Tidal River really makes up for the long drive with its stunning views. There are also several hiking trails in the area with varying degrees of difficulty. One of the attractions in the area is Wilsons Promontory Lighthouse, which is Australia’s southermost light house.

Great Otway National Park
The beautiful and popular Great Otway National Park is a three hour drive southwest of Melbourne. This park has many different types of nature and landscape, both deep forests and fantastic sandy beaches. By the coast it is also common to get glimpses of dolphines and whales.
