Where to go on La Palma
La Palma may be the smallest of the Canary Islands, but it still has a lot to offer besides sun and beach. Below we’ll mention a few of our favourite spots on the island.
Fuencaliente is on the southern tip of La Palma, in an area known for its volcanic ridge Cumbre Vieja, which is a part of the Fuencaliente national park. Here you’ll get views of gorgeous and cool scenery, including salt evaporation ponds.
Santa Cruz de la Palma
Santa Cruz de la Palma is the second largest city on La Palma, but has the largest port on the island. From her it is possible to take boat trips to other islands, such as Tenerife. Santa Cruz de la Palma also has many nice attractions, including the fortress of Santa Catalina.
Villa de Mazo
Villa de Mazo is about six miles from the airport. This is one of the most historically interesting towns on the island. The Belmaco caves are especially worth seeing with their old rock paintings made by ancient settlers.
