You’ll find ten major and well-known car rental firms at the airport’s car hire centre. This centre is reached by walking through a covered walkway. It is well sign-posted and easy to find.

Car hire is also available in central Edinburgh at several locations, depending on the company you choose.

Where to go around Edinburgh

If you want to fully enjoy Scotland, a rental car is the perfect choice. You’ll find cosy villages, amazing scenery and historic attractions behind every corner – all within comfortable driving distance from Edinburgh.

Stirling
The beautiful town of Stirling is only a short drive from Edinburgh. It is known for its castle, which towers over the town on a cliff. The castle is definitely worth a visit, but the city also has many other interesting and beautiful buildings, all surrounded by gorgeous landscape.

Doune Castle
Doune Castle is perhaps best known for having been featured in the comedy film Monty Python and The Holy Grail and the television series Game of Thrones (Castle of Winterfell). The Castle does, however, also have a very interesting history. If you make it to the top of the tower you’ll also be met by fantastic views of the surrounding landscape.

Inverness and Loch Ness
If you want to go for a long drive and see the Scottish Highlands, Inverness is a given choice. The city is about three and a half hours from Edinburgh and is well suited for a two-day trip.
