Our car rental offices in Auckland

Renting a car in Auckland is very easy. There are several car rental offices in the city that are easy to get to.

  • Auckland Strand Station: There are four car rental offices in the western parts of central Auckland by the Strand Station, which is one of the major train stations in the city. The offices are located on The Strand and Beach Road, and both of them are at a comfortable walking distance from the station. Getting from these offices to bigger roads that take you to the city’s surrounding area is smooth and easy.
  • Central Auckland: Car hire is also available in central Auckland, near Captain Cook Wharf. There is an office on Shortland Street, which is walking distance from the Britomart station.
  • East Auckland: Slightly east of the office on Shortland Street, you’ll find another office on Victoria Street West, a stone’s throw from Victoria Park. This office is very close to the Northern Motorway, which makes getting out of the city and on to other places easy.
  • South Auckland: In the Grafton area in the southern part of Auckland, there is a car rental office on Khyber Pass Road. From here, it is very easy to get to Highway 1, which will take you out of Auckland.

Car hire at Auckland Airport

Auckland Airport (airport code: AKL) is about 13 miles from the city centre, and is the largest airport in New Zealand. The airport services both international and national flights, and has been named one of the best airports in the Pacific region.

Car rental is not only possible but very convenient at Auckland Airport. If you arrive in the international terminal, you’ll find the car rental offices on the ground floor, by the Arrivals hall.

Where to go around Auckland

Auckland works as an ideal starting point for several nice car trips in the area. Since New Zealand has such stunning landscape, you don’t need to go far to be able to experience something amazing. Below we’ll mention a few of our favourite places within driving distance from Auckland.

Whangaparaoa peninsula
The beautiful Whangaparaoa peninsula is only half an hour’s drive north of Auckland. The peninsula is known for its gorgeous scenery, and its beaches attract many visitors. You can often see whales and dolphins swim along the coast. There is also a very nice gold course on the peninsula.

Kaimai Range
If you want to see exceptional landscape, a trip to the Kaimai Range is an absolute must. The Kaimai Range is a mountain range and a forest park that runs across a large area. It is an approximate two-hour drive south of central Auckland. If you fancy a hike, the Range has several nice nature trails of various difficulty levels. Whichever part of the Range you choose to visit, you will get incomparable views of amazing nature.

Hamilton
Hamilton is New Zealand’s fourth largest city, and is located about 75 miles south of Auckland. The city has expanded greatly in recent years, and it has very exciting architecture. Hamilton is also known for its many nice, small art galleries. Furthermore, the Waikato Museum, which focuses on the history of the region, is quite interesting and worth a visit.
