Where to go around Pisa

Pisa is located in the well-known and popular province of Tuscany, and there is much to see and experience in terms of nature, history and good food and drink. Below is a list of our favourite places within driving distance from Pisa.

Lucca
Slightly north of Pisa lies the city of Lucca, which historically is a very interesting city. Lucca is surrounded by old city walls that date back to the 1500’s. There is also an ancient amphitheatre, a botanical garden from the 1800’s and the Palazzo Ducale, which are all worth a visit.

Montepulciano
The city of Montepulciano towers high above the Tuscan landscape. This is a must for anyone with an interest in food and drink. World famous ham, cheese and wine is produced here. You’ll also find many old buildings, and some of the vineyards have farm shops in the city where you can buy local products.

Massa
If you are looking for a beach, Massa is a perfect place, and only a short drive north from Pisa. Here you’ll find several child-friendly beaches and water parks. The town itself is also very cosy with many historic buildings. Don’t miss the Malaspina castle that overlooks the city from a cliff.
