Car hire in Nice

On this page you’ll find tips and advice on hiring a car in Nice, and the cheapest rental cars at guaranteed lowest cost. We have car rental offices both in central Nice and at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. If this is your first time renting a car in France, please read our general tips on car hire in the country via the link below.

Our car rental offices in Nice

  • Nice train station: If you are arriving in Nice by train, renting a car at the train station is very convenient. Three car rental companies have offices inside the station house, and they all have a wide range of rental cars. There is also an office across from the train station, on Avenue Auber. The train station is at a comfortable distance from one of the major roads in the area. This means that getting out from Nice to its surrounding areas is smooth and easy.
  • South Nice – You’ll also find a few car rental offices in the southern parts of central Nice. One of them is by Hotel Le Méridien, close to the beach. In the same area, on Avenue Gustave V, you’ll find three more. From this part of Nice, getting to the different city districts is very easy, and it is also convenient to use the larger roads to get out of Nice.

Car rental at Nice Airport

The international airport in Nice is called Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (airport code: NCE), and is located approximately 4 miles west of central Nice.

Here you’ll find a car hire centre in close proximity to the airport. All major car rental companies have offices in this car hire centre, and you reach it either by walking or by taking the free shuttle bus. If you choose to walk, you’ll find it well sign posted.

What to do around Nice

Nice’s incredible proximity to the French Riviera makes the city a perfect location if you are looking for a holiday with sun, beach and beautiful nature. However, in the city’s vicinity, there are many other amazing places you can visit with your rental car. Below we’ll mention some of our favourite spots around Nice.

Eze
If you decide to include the French Riviera in your trip, making a stop in the medieval village of Eze is a definite must. Eze is located on a cliff, and from the village you’ll get a gorgeous view of both the southern French countryside and the ocean. There are also many historic buildings and cozy restaurants and cafés for you to explore.

Gorge du Verdon
The deep river canyon Gorge du Verdon is often said to be one of the most beautiful ones in Europe. It is an approximate two-hour drive from Nice. We recommend driving around the rim to truly be able to take in all the gorgeous scenery. If you want a bit more adventure, it’s possible to rent kayaks and travel on the river and its turquoise waters.

Genoa, Italy
Since Nice is so close to Italy, making a trip to the neighbouring country is actually quite comfortable. One of the Italian cities within driving distance from Nice is Genoa, which is also one of the biggest cities in the area. Here you’ll find a metropolis with many historically important buildings, surrounded by beautiful landscape.
