Car hire at Montpellier Airport

Just over 4 miles from central Montpellier is the area’s international airport Montpellier-Méditerranée. Here you can rent a car from a number of different well-known car rental companies. Their offices are located directly outside the airport and the terminal. You’ll find it well sign posted and easy to find.

What to do around Montpellier

The area surrounding Montpellier is full of cozy little villages and amazingly beautiful nature. You can access all of it with your rental car! Below we’ll mention some of our favourite spots.

Slightly north of Montpellier you’ll find the well-known historic city of Avignon. Here you can enjoy many interesting sights dating back as far as the prehistoric age, although mostly from the Middle ages. The city also has well-preserved city walls and many beautiful churches. One of the main attractions is the Palais de Papes, which is one of the largest medieval buildings in Europe.

The beautiful town of Agde is just an hour’s drive from Montpellier. Agde is home to the famous resort Cap d’Agde, where there are some great camp sites. Other than nice beaches, golf courses and water parks, Agde is also known for its nudist beaches.

If you want to visit a typical Provence town, the cozy Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a very good option. Time really seems to have stood still in this well-preserved town with wonderful landscapes. You’ll find quaint narrow streets, numerous restaurants and cafés with outdoor seating, beautiful buildings and art galleries. There are also many local culinary delicacies to try!
