Our car rental offices in Lyon
- Part Dieu train station: You’ll find as many as ten car rental offices right by Part Dieu train station, the biggest train station in Lyon. Picking your rental car up at Part Dieu upon arrival by train is very convenient. The train station is very central in Lyon, making it easy to get to different districts of Lyon and even to the town’s surrounding areas.
- De Perrache train station: South of Part Dieu train station is another train station: De Perrache. De Perrache train station is right in the centre of Lyon on the peninsula that constitutes a large part of the city. Here you’ll find eight car rental offices, and they are all in the immediate vicinity of the A6 and A7 motorways, which are two of the main roads in the area.
- Central Lyon: Apart from the car rental offices by the two train stations, there are two offices in central Lyon on Route de Vienne. These offices are close to Parc Blandan, and has excellent road links both within the city and to the surrounding areas.
- West Lyon: Slightly west of the town centre, in the Vaise district, you’ll find another car rental office on Rue Berjon.
Car hire at Lyon Airport
The international airport in Lyon is called Lyon–Saint-Exupéry (airport code: LYS) and is located about 12 miles from central Lyon. Five major car rental companies have their offices here. You’ll find them all collected in a separate area close to the airport. This separate area is reachable by a free shuttle bus from the Arrivals section. There are also plenty of excellent car hire possibilities in central Lyon if this suits you better.
What to do around Lyon
Because of Lyon’s central location in France, it’s a good starting point for several excursions by car. It is also possible to visit Switzerland and Italy since they are so close. Below we’ll mention some of our favourite places.
Less than two hours from Lyon is Geneva (Switzerland). This is a city with a fantastic location among mountains and Lake Geneva. There is loads to see and experience! You can explore several interesting museums and historic buildings. On Sundays, the city also has a large flea market with a wide range of goods.
The territory of Burgundy is just over 12 miles from Lyon. This is one of the main wine districts in France, which means that there is much to see and experience for people with an interest in food and wine. In the area, you’ll also find several interesting towns. We recommend that you visit Dijon, with its many churches and notable cuisine.
Cévennes National Park
The wonderful Cévennes National Park is slightly south of Lyon. This park is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Whether you choose to drive or walk in the park, you’ll get gorgeous views of the stunning landscape. You’ll also find a few villages in the National Park. The historic Florac is one of the larger villages.
